Early work on the subject licence took place after 25/10/1993 as part of a regional search for possible shallowly buried diamondiferous kimberlites, conducted by Caldera Resources and Laura Holdings across a large tenement package which had been assigned combined expenditure commitments and joint reporting status by MESA (the ABMINGA Diamond Project). The only notable field work completed on EL 1880/2561 comprised two airborne magnetic surveys to infill the previous SAEI coverage, the first flown in 1994 at 100 m line spacing, and the second flown in 2002 at 50 m line spacing, both surveys aiming to resolve interpreted bipolar aeromagnetic anomalies to yield drillable targets. In addition, Caldera Resources' interpretation of the 2002 magnetic data identified an isolated intense magnetic feature measuring ~ 400 m in diameter, which could represent a buried Proterozoic mafic/ultramafic pluton with Cu/Ni/PGE mineralisation potential. Geophysical data modelling estimated the depth to the top of this body at 200 m. Minimal on-ground work was done over a very long period owing to protracted and unresolved Native Title negotiations for obtaining practical land access, and also latterly because of a lack of suitable drilling rigs available for contract. Some stream sediment bulk sampling and auger sampling of soils was done to obtain samples for mineralogical and geochemical studies. Such of this data as can be attributed to the subject licence area has already been made available to the public by PIRSA in Envs 8830, 9783 and 9299, which became open file on 26/7/2004. In mid-2007 Caldera Resources signed a joint venture agreement with Eromanga Uranium that gave the latter company the right to explore for possible palaeochannel uranium deposits within Mesozoic cover rocks on EL 3186, while Caldera Resources retained the entitlement to look for diamonds and for base and precious metals in the underlying basement. During June-July 2007 Eromanga Uranium acquired part of a 9345 line km combined airborne TEM / magnetic survey over the entire 74 square km Warrataddy Hill area, looking for any sinuous conductive bodies in the Algebuckina Sandstone which could constitute drillable palaeochannel units. No EM responses of this type were detected.
