The principal aim of this study is to use ZFTA to provide information on the provenance andthermal history of the Paleozoic and older sections intersected in eleven wells. A secondary aimis to use AFTA and vitrinite reflectance data to provide a thermal history framework forunderstanding the thermal evolution of key parts of the Cooper-Eromanga Basin in SouthAustralia. ZFTA, AFTA and VR are used to identify, characterise and quantify any episodes of elevatedpaleotemperatures which have affected the well section, with particular emphasis ondetermining the timing of major paleo-thermal episodes, the magnitude of paleotemperatures ineach episode, and the way in which paleotemperatures vary with depth.
