An area located approximately 130 km north-west of Port Augusta, on the south-eastern margin of Lake Gairdner, is being explored for possible buried iron oxide - associated copper-gold±uranium (IOCG-U) mineralisation formed within the Mesoproterozoic or older basement rocks, as well as for possible younger Cenozoic palaeochannel and roll front style sedimentary uranium deposits. EL 3755, and the adjoining Scrubby Hill EL 3754 to the north, cover a region of the eastern Gawler Ranges where the Gawler Range Volcanics are locally intruded by granites of the Hiltaba Suite. The presence nearby of deep-seated and long-lived regional structures is regarded as enhancing the prospectivity of the two areas. No exploration work was completed on the relinquished portion of EL 3755, but the exploration history and exploration potential of ground covered by the project licences are reviewed in the subject report. Ownership of both project licences was transferred from Teck Cominco Australia to Meridian Minerals in May 2008.
