  1. A single sample from the Munyarai-1 well, submitted for analysis by MESA, Adelaide. The principle objective was to obtain some constraint on the depositional age of the host unit. 2. Track counts from five grains gave a pooled fission track age of 493±37 Ma. This result provides an upper limit of 567 Ma (at the upper 2ó limit) for the depositional age of the unit, which therefore could be Cambrian or younger. 3. Analysis of the apatite fission track ages from this sample might be useful in constraining the depositional age, if the sample has not been significantly heated after deposition.
