Mineral exploration in the Streaky Bay district has addressed the potential for finding Prominent Hill - style Proterozoic IOCG deposits, Phanerozoic iron-depleted gold mineralisation, and Tertiary palaeochannel - hosted sedimentary uranium mineralisation. The following work was performed [ Note: but only on the hitherto retained portions of the subject licences ]: March-April 2004 - Minotaur conducted a regional gravity survey consisting of 469 stations read at 1 km spacing along lines spaced 2 km apart. April-May 2005 - PIRSA conducted a major regional gravity survey over much of the western Gawler Ranges. Data was collected on a 2 km x 2 km grid. Subsequently Minotaur merged the above two gravity survey data sets. The amplitudes of discrete residual gravity anomalies ranged up to 10 mGal. The company selected IOCG drill targets. 2006 - IOCG Target 15 was drilled (aircore drilling of IOCG gravity anomaly Target 6 was not carried out due to its location within the Kulliparu Reserve). To assess a gold-only target, 3 vertical aircore holes for 118 m were drilled into a linear magnetic low which diagonally intersects EL 3367. All downhole sample gold assay values were below detection. Microgravity traverses (based on PIRSA's palaeochannel interpretation) were conducted in order further define the channel margins and thalweg, to help plan the locations for drill traverses. Readings were taken every 100 m along on four lines. 2007 - Toro Energy drilled 80 aircore holes for 6,650 m along three traverses which were designed to cross-cut interpreted palaeochannels: the hole layout was based on a previous traverse drilled by Minotaur in 2006, which had revealed the (newly named) Kottata Palaeochannel. Toro's drillholes were gamma ray logged and were assayed for: - AC06KA series, U,Th,Zr - max. 82 ppm U (XRF) in AC06KA033, depth interval 34-35m; - SB06AC series, full suite - max. 2.5 ppm U (ICP) in SB06AC053, depth interval 24-25 m; - SBU series, U, Th (+/- Ca, Cd) (+/- full suite) - max. 230 ppm U (XRF) in SBU05012, depth interval 45-46 m. Aster nightime infrared (A_NTIR) and USA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) satellite spectral mapping data was examined to judge its usefulness for determining the location of palaeochannels.
