Uranium exploration in a known uraniferous area located immediately north of Iron Knob comprised numerous ground radiometric survey traverses made across outcropping Mesoproterozoic rocks, mainly the Corunna Conglomerate. A thin phosphatic basal bed of this unit gave anomalous radioactivity readings of up to 2000 counts per second, but upon analysis samples of it were found to be too low in uranium content to be of commercial interest.
