The Creek Junction talc deposit, located 4 miles south-east of the No. 5 talc deposit and the Mount Fitton mining camp, had been worked on a small scale prior to 1963. In view of the comparatively narrow widths of the exposed talc lenses and their variable colour, this deposit has been paid little attention until the company's recent exploratory drilling campaign. Following a topographic survey of intended boring sites on the southern side of the deposit, 59 inclined wagon drillholes were put down on eight traverses and subsequently logged and sampled by the author. The drilling work has revealed a 30-foot wide, 65-70 degrees northerly dipping belt of what appears mainly to be rather low grade talc, but due to gaps in drilling coverage and reduced true widths of mineralised intersections that were made, no economic quantities of talc were encountered. It is recommended that the single higher grade talc occurrence found in borehole 13-7 be further tested by north-south aligned bulldozer trenching to reveal the bedrock.
