An area located 40 km south-west of Tarcoola was taken up to explore primarily for possible economic buried sedimentary uranium mineralisation within the Tertiary cover sequence, and secondarily for epithermal/hydrothermal copper-gold deposits or for magmatic nickel deposits that could exist in Archaean to Proterozoic basement rocks. Initially the licensee carried out a review of historic drillhole data to assess the potential for finding palaeochannel-hosted uranium of roll-front type, as well as conducting a review of existing calcrete geochemical data for any uranium anomalies of interest. A single north-south line of low level helicopter-borne reconnaissance Hoist-EM geophysics was also flown in October 2005 across the known Kingoonya Palaeochannel, to aid in planning the parameters of an intended later regional airborne EM survey and a possible airborne gravity survey (using 'Falcon' technology) which could hopefully refine the model of palaeochannel distribution. After UraniumSA farmed into the licence in September 2006 to explore for uranium, that company in May 2007 undertook an extensive, 2383.3 line km airborne RepTEM survey of the Tarcoola / Kingoonya region, which included coverage acquired over a major portion of EL 3253. The new EM data appeared to have successfully defined the extent and geometry of the target palaeochannel system within the licence. During 2007, after comprehensively interpreting the EM data, UraniumSA commenced evaluation drilling on this palaeochannel system within the JV's neighbouring tenements, but similar work could not start on EL 3253 without first establishing Native Title agreements and Aboriginal Heritage clearances, and attending to formal environmental protection factors. These required land access negotiations became protracted over the ensuing two years, and thus precluded performance of the drilling work. Eventually UraniumSA notified Stellar Resources in July 2009 of its intention to withdraw EL 3253 from the joint venture agreement. Subsequently, because the perceived issues surrounding obtaining land access into the Yellabinna Regional Reserve were though to outweigh the area's uranium prospectivity, the decision was made to surrender tenure.
