An area located approximately 110 km north of Kimba, on the eastern margin of Lake Gairdner, has been explored for possible buried iron oxide - associated copper-gold±uranium (IOCG-U) mineralisation formed within the Mesoproterozoic or older basement rocks, as well as for possible younger Cenozoic palaeochannel and roll front style sedimentary uranium deposits. EL 3754, and the adjoining Mount Nonning EL 3755 to the south, cover a region of the eastern Gawler Ranges where the Gawler Range Volcanics are locally intruded by granites of the Hiltaba Suite. The presence nearby of deep-seated and long-lived regional structures was regarded as enhancing the prospectivity of the two areas. No on-ground exploration was conducted on the subject licence during its three year term. Planned ground magnetic surveys, over selected combined magnetic/gravity anomaly IOCG targets believed to lie within as yet untested basement beneath and close to the base of the Gawler Range Volcanics sequence, did not take place.
