Exploration of an area located approximately 60 km north of William Creek, looking for possible economic buried iron oxide - associated copper-gold (IOCG) mineralisation within inferred concealed Proterozoic basement east of the Peake and Denison Ranges, has comprised the acquisition and interpretation of a regional gravity survey (403 stations read at 500 m x 500 m grid spacing during July 2007, as a concurrent extension to the acquisition of PIRSA's 2007 PACE Initiative - funded Northern G2 Corridor Gravity Survey read at 750 m centres) in order to complement existing survey data and to achieve regional gravity coverage over the entire tenement. No significant major positive Bouguer gravity anomalies were seen to lie on EL 3890. Merging of historical and new gravity data onto a residual anomaly image defined only one feature of any size (Target A). However, two dimensional geophysical modelling of this 5 mGal anomaly using a specific gravity value of 3.2 g/cc, typical of IOCG altered basement rock, suggested that the source depth to its causative body was 900 m, and a weak magnetic response indicated that it is likely to be due to mafic igneous intrusions. The apparently excessive drill depth requirement for testing basement at this location, plus the presence of an overlying Mesozoic artesian aquifer, were regarded as major impediments to further activity, and so after two years a decision was made to allow licence tenure to lapse.
