Exploration of a 4600 square km project area comprising five licences in two contiguous groups within the Kingoonya region has targeted two distinct styles of uranium mineralisation. The primary focus was on possible sandstone - hosted deposits within Mesozoic clastic sediments, which could be present at depths of less than 150 m. A secondary objective was older and deeper, unconformity - related uranium deposits that may have formed in Proterozoic rocks, especially in the southern part of the project area, where block faulting has uplifted the basement, bringing the prospective unconformable contact between the Late Proterozoic Pandurra Formation and the Early to Middle Proterozoic crystalline basement closer to the surface, at depths estimated to lie in the range 200-300 m. After a year's delay in obtaining corporate exploration funding through the postponement of its initial public share offering, Eromanga Uranium contracted Geosolutions to fly a 4498.4 line km airborne EM and magnetic survey over the entire project area during September 2007, along 1 km spaced north-south flight lines with a sensor average flight height above ground level of 45 m, seeking coherent near-surface conductivity features that might represent buried uranium or other mineralisation. However, no further work, including a planned aircore/rotary mud drilling programme to evaluate interpreted AEM anomalies, could be carried out on the subject licences during years 3 and 4, because in late 2008 the Australian Defence Force as owners of the RAAF Woomera Test Facility suddenly denied ongoing access by mineral explorers to a restricted zone within the Woomera Prohibited Area which included all of the Kingoonya Project licences. When this unforseen issue of gaining exploration access onto Commonwealth-administered land remained unresolved as of April 2010 despite South Australian State Government mediation, Uranium SA then made a decision to surrender tenure.
