As part of a project examining the sequence of Adelaidean cover rocks that surrounds the Pernatty Culmination on the southern Stuart Shelf for possible economic stratiform copper mineralisation of the various styles known to be present in the Mount Gunson area, as well as for basement-hosted IOCG type mineralisation or structurally controlled gold occurrences, a two-part licence located a few km to the west and south of the former CSR Mount Gunson mining camp has been explored by Gunson Resources and previous licence owners. No work has been carried out on the now relinquished southern portion of EL 3477. Exploratory drilling was done on the adjoining project tenements EL 3264 and EL 4187 in early 2008 and 2009, and the results were used to update rock stratigraphic relationships and to refine mineral prospectivity models applicable in the near vicinity, including on EL 3477. Regional and infill gravity data acquired during 2002 across the entire tenement area has already been released as part of Env 10728.
