Exploration of the Lower Cambrian Parachilna Formation and Upper Proterozoic Pound Quartzite in an area around the nose of the Balcanoona Anticline and cross-folded Arrowie Syncline, where a quantity of surface copper mineralisation occurs, initially comprised diamond drilling (4 holes, total 567.3 m) to search for an enriched zone of malachite and azurite thought to exist within the Wilkawillina Limestone downdip from the leached surface indications. These holes has poor results, intersecting only sparse carbonates and minor chalcopyrite sporadically distributed in the oxidation/reduction zone 100 to 260 m below surface, within brecciated and leached dolomite and clayey sandstone overlying the Pound Quartzite. Reconsidered follow-up investigations included detailed examination of mineralised outcrops and rock chip sampling, soil sampling across the Arrowie Fault scarp, IP surveys of resulting geochemical anomalies, and percussion drilling of selected targets (6 holes, total 580 m) which also met with very limited success. Drillhole PDH M4 tested a geochemical anomaly in the vicinity of the Tea Tree Fault where it intersects the Arrowie Syncline, and averaged 0.28% Cu for the top 47 m.
