A small licence area located immediately south of Port Hughes on northern Yorke Peninsula was taken out primarily to explore for possible economic epithermal, vein style or IOCG type copper, gold, base metal and uranium mineralisation formed within buried Palaeoproterozoic to Mesoproterozoic basement rocks. Secondary targets included possible hydrothermal uranium or magnetite skarn type deposits of base metals. Work carried out has comprised an initial literature review, the acquisition and reprocessing of magnetic data, the input of spatial data to a GIS database, and reconnaissance and follow-up geochemical sampling of surficial regolith materials. Out of the latter exercise it was found that sampling of the soil B horizon material present on static sand dunes appeared to yield the most meaningful results. Late in 2007 preliminary sampling was done at 500 m intervals along road verges in the district (69 calcrete plus 14 soil samples, with 1 soil sample collected at every fifth calcrete sample site). Minor copper, gold and lead anomalism was further investigated during January 2009, after obtaining the landowners' permissions for entry on private properties, by conducting detailed, grid-based 200 m x 200 m spaced soil sampling (314 samples), and a definite anomaly in copper, gold and lead was seen which trends northwards out of the licence area. An approach to the holder of the current adjoining EL, asking to form a joint venture on part of that company's ground to explore this anomaly, was rejected. Consequently the farmin option holder on the subject EL 3719 chose not to continue with exploration there, and tenure was allowed to lapse by the licensee at the end of Year 3.
