An area located approximately 30 km east of Glendambo was taken up to explore primarily for possible economic buried sedimentary uranium mineralisation within the Tertiary cover sequence, and secondarily for possible unconformity - related uranium deposits of Athabasca Basin (Canada) or Alligator Rivers (Northern Territory) style at the base of the Eromanga and Cariewerloo Basins, besides also looking for IOCG-U deposits of Olympic Dam type within Mesoproterozoic basement. Licence operator UraniumSA carried a review of past exploration data which identified several areas of immediate exploration potential. To assist with mapping the Kingoonya Palaeochannel System drainage fill patterns, part of a reconnaissance airborne electromagnetic survey was conducted on EL 3474 for UraniumSA during May 2007 by contractor GPX Airborne, using the REPTEM time domain EM system. The survey was flown using a Squirrel BA helicopter. Flight line spacing was 2 km, with a total coverage across the tenement of approximately 204 line km. It was intended to scrutinise available open file drillhole data to determine the vertical and lateral extents of the interpreted palaeochannel sedimentation, after which a follow-up rotary mud traverse drilling and downhole radiometric logging programme was scheduled for mid-2008; however, the latter work did not take place. Ongoing access to conduct mineral exploration field work within the Woomera Prohibited Area was denied after May 2008 by the Australian Commonwealth's Department of Defence, and those authorities have since then given no indication as to when or if exploration personnel will be granted access. UraniumSA approached PIRSA for advice, and was told that tenure should be allowed to lapse, as the situation means affected licence's future expenditure and work commitments cannot be met.
