Gold, base metal and diamond exploration carried out over a small area located immediately south-east of Truro has comprised detailed BLEG stream sediment sampling across the licence, limited rock chip geochemical sampling of quartz veins, alluvium heavy mineral sampling for diamond indicators, the conduct of ground gravity and aeromagnetic surveys, and stream sediment and soil sampling of magnetic anomalies and altered metasediments that lie on the western side of the Truro Fault zone. High background gold and silver values were indicated in the surface drainage samples, rising above what might be derived from residues of historic copper and gold mining activity. No diamond indicators were found. A prospectivity analysis report was prepared for Eyre Resources by consultant Lindsay Curtis, who had already carried out detailed field geological investigations of structures and known mineralisation in the general area of Truro. He recognised that a lamprophyric intrusive body occurs at the Wheal Barton prospect, associated with a pronounced gravity low and with bleached country rock. He highlighted the likely influence of the hitherto un-mapped, north-south aligned Truro Fault major structure, which borders the western side of the northern Karinya Syncline, as a principal factor in localising hydrothermal and igneous intrusive activity and possible related epigenetic mineralisation.
