Exploration for possible epithermal / hydrothermal gold and/or IOCG drilling targets within an area located about 120 km north-east of Streaky Bay, on the north-eastern side of the Gawler Ranges near Lake Acraman, aimed at testing prominent northwestwards-trending demagnetised zones recognised within the Gawler Range Volcanics, which field mapping had shown contained much quartz veining and associated intense sericite alteration. Preliminary rock chip sampling in these zones (36 samples assayed) yielded disappointing results, with only one sample returning >5 ppb Au. Two rounds of calcrete sampling were next carried out on EL 3461 during June 2006, both concentrating on its southern part, as similar sampling over the northern part of the tenement had been undertaken by previous explorers. 496 samples were collected on a 1 km x 1 km grid, and produced several coherent 3 to 5 ppb Au anomalies. These were infill sampled on 250 m x 250 m grids for an additional 416 samples, but the gold assay values remained generally low, with a peak value of 6 ppb. No other field work took place on the licence area during the following four years, with 2500 m of planned RC drilling not eventuating before the decision was made to surrender tenure.
