An area located approximately 100 km west of Broken Hill and 30 km north of Olary is being explored principally for possible Mesoproterozoic Cloncurry style, stratiform copper-gold associated with banded iron formations in Thackaringa Group equivalent rocks, and for Olympic Dam type epithermal/hydrothermal IOCG mineralisation, as well as for Palaeoproterozoic Broken Hill type, polymetallic Zn-Pb-Ag-W stratiform base metal accumulations hosted by the Bimba / Ettlewood formations metasedimentary sequence, Crocker Well type epigenetic primary uranium and rare earths in sheared granitoid intrusions, and Honeymoon style roll front sedimentary uranium in Tertiary palaeochannels. During 2001, during the period of its joint venture activity with EL 2761 licensee PlatSearch, farminee Delta Gold completed 4 aircore drillholes for a total penetration of 42 m to allow direct geochemical sampling of buried bedrock within the now relinquished portion of the tenement. These vertical drillholes formed part of a drill traverse over a magnetic feature interpreted to be prospective for IOCG mineralisation. During late 2005 Western Plains Gold, as operator of another joint venture with PlatSearch, conducted an extensive calcrete geochemical sampling programme across the entire licence area that was designed to provide a new regional geochemical coverage and to follow up lag and rock chip geochemical anomalies identified from previous company exploration. 23 of these sampling auger holes were located within the now relinquished area. A detailed airborne radiometric and magnetic survey covering EL 3297 was flown by GPX Airborne for current joint venturer Crossland Uranium Mines during May-June 2007. The survey totalled 2873.9 line km, with a nominal 100 m flight line spacing and 60 m mean terrain clearance. The interpreted geophysical anomalies arising from this survey, along with with those derived from previous work, were followed-up with a combination of ground prospecting and auger drilling. Over anomalies located within the now relinquished ground 2 rock chip samples were collected for geochemical analysis, and spectrometer readings were taken at each sample site.
