Exploration undertaken within the now relinquished portion of the subject Kapunda licence area, located approximately 65 km north-east of Adelaide, has comprised the acquisition and interpretation of an airborne magnetic/radiometric survey, ranking/selection of magnetic targets, and reconnaissance stream sediment sampling. Positive results obtained from the primary geochemical/mineralogical sampling give further support to the idea that a field of undiscovered kimberlite intrusive bodies exists nearby in the Barossa Ranges. The 5 stream sediment reconnaissance samples were assayed using x-ray fluorescence, for Ni, Cr, Zr and Nb, and gave encouraging results. 12 stream sediment samples were also submitted for heavy mineral grain separation and observation to search for kimberlitic indicator minerals, and 4 of these samples returned positive results. The Barossa Ranges - Angaston airborne magnetic-radiometric survey coverage included a small part of the now relinquished ground. The survey was flown during June 2004 along north-south lines spaced 100 m apart, with a sensor elevation of 60 m and readings taken every 25 m. Processing and interpretation of the survey data led to the identification of numerous magnetic anomalies possibly representing kimberlite dykes and pipes. Unfortunately, no targets were identified in the surrendered area.
