Three now relinquished licence portions located along the western margin of the Denison Inlier have been explored for possible economic stratabound roll-front style or palaeochannel hosted sedimentary uranium deposits, inferred as likely to have formed within the Jurassic Algebuckina Sandstone and overlying Cretaceous Cadna-owie Formation in fluvial settings proximal to known uraniferous Proterozoic basement rocks. Work conducted by Red Metal on the relinquished ground has included: - shallow RC percussion drilling of 3 vertical holes totalling 168 m, for investigating the uranium potential of Mesozoic sandstone and conglomeratic horizons; - the conduct of a heliborne EM survey during September 2007 over part of the licence (then EL 3226); - the conduct of a detailed gravity survey in the northern part of EL 3226 during December 2007 [571 stations read - a data subset is herewith released]. The 3 drillholes, which were completed during December 2006 and February 2007, all intersected fluvial sediments of the target Cadna-Owie Formation and Algebuckina Sandstone, and then were extended downwards into kaolinitic saprolite and saprock of the Adelaidean and Middle Proterozoic basement. Subsequent downhole gamma ray wireline logging disclosed no evidence of anomalous radioactivity in any of the strata. Based on this result and the unpromising basin geophysical responses, it was decided that the three subject portions of EL 4307 lacked prospectivity and should be relinquished.
