Within an area located approximately 110 km north-west of Ceduna, exploration has primarily been directed at assessing the heavy mineral sands potential of Tertiary Eucla Basin shoreline sediments, with an additional objective of determining the base and precious metal prospectivity of shallowly buried pre-Tertiary basement. During July-August 2009, 73 vertical aircore drillholes with a total penetration of 3072.5 m were completed at 1 km spacings along six linked traverses, with some hole spacings reduced to 500 m over fossil strandlines deemed favourable to the deposition of mineral sands. Low grade heavy mineral accumulations associated with beach sand facies were identified at several places, mainly along two drilling traverses situated near the centre of the tenement, and these correspond with DEM - interpreted palaeocoastal headland/embayment features. The zones of mineralisation are located within fine-medium to medium grainsize, well sorted beach sands; however, they are generally thin (<6 m) and of low grade. The best intercept was obtained in drillhole FN007 (6 m @ 2% EHM). Minor amounts ( 21 m) was penetrated by drillhole FN030: this occurrence warrants further investigation of its quality and extent.
