Site investigations on spring-fed salt lakes in an area north of Snowtown were undertaken to assess their potential for inclusion in artificial pan - confined solar salt production to add to the output of an existing local, seasonal salt harvesting operation. Sampling of the natural saline groundwater seepage outflows identified one site with enough perceived economic potential to satisfy the described industrial purpose, and mineral claim tenure over it was pegged in January 2011 and subsequently granted as MC 4279.
