An elevated area of hills located west of the Waukaringa Syncline, and 60 km north-west of Yunta, has been explored for possible economic alluvial gold and for related vein type gold formed in folded and faulted Adelaidean country rocks. Orientation stream sediment and rock chip sampling were undertaken in the vicinity of a line of old shallow copper/manganese workings located on a ridge, which had been sited on some thin ENE trending quartz veins. One vein sample returned 3 g/t Au, while a single gold micronugget (<1 mm grainsize) was recovered from panned stream sediment heavy mineral concentrates collected on the eastern side of the tenement, although no coarser alluvial gold was evident. Subsequent quartz vein sample assays returned a maximum value of 135 ppb Au in one of seven samples, but the other samples contained less than 10 ppb.
