Exploration of a small licence area located in the Cleve Hills approximately 100 km south-west of Whyalla and 10 km west of Cowell has primarily targeted structurally controlled high grade vein type uranium mineralisation and unconformity style uranium mineralisation, such as those deposits found in the Canadian Athabasca Basin and the Alligator Rivers region of Australia's Northern Territory. During February 2007 licence operator UraniumSA completed a detailed low level infill airborne magnetic/radiometric survey (359 line km, 200 m flight line spacing) across the southern portion of the tenement, to identify sites with permissive host strata and juxtaposed structures likely to be prospective. The deformed calc-silicate metasediments of the Warrow Quartzite exposed on the western side of the Kalinjala Shear Zone were regarded as possible hosts for shear-related uranium deposits, while vein sets mapped within more regional WNW-trending structures that cross-cut the Palaeoproterozoic basement rock sequence, and in part appear to extend outwards from large syn-tectonic granite intrusions, were considered to hold potential for both uranium and gold deposits. An external consultant was retained by UraniumSA to interpret and model the new airborne geophysical data, and some minor field reconnaissance visits and geological mapping took place at anomalies of interest. No further work was done on the subject over the succeeding four years, mainly because of unforeseen financial constraints occasioned by the licensee's large (~$1.8m) drilling-related expenditure needed on its adjoining EL 3652 Mullaquana, where it made the sizeable Blackbush deposit unconformity-related uranium discovery in March 2010. A formal request to be allowed to let licence tenure lapse was made on 20/10/2011.
