A small area located approximately 18 km north-east of Iron Knob has been explored for possible economic gold, silver, base metals and uranium mineralisation which could have formed in rocks marginal to the Gawler Ranges igneous massif. The licence was taken up by Tasman Resources after it noticed some significant untested anomalous gold-in-calcrete data which had been reported by a previous explorer, and following the company's discovery of epithermal gold-silver mineralisation in the Parkinson Dam area to the north on EL 3307 (now EL 4475). Most of EL 3739 is underlain by Palaeoproterozoic metasediments, which have been variably folded, faulted and cross-cut by later quartz veins. These rocks are generally overlain by colluvium, calcrete and lesser alluvial material in drainages. Minor outcrops and subcrops of Corunna Conglomerate occur in the north-west. The only field work conducted by Tasman Resources on this tenement was reconnaissance ground traversing of certain parts having exposed basement rocks, aiming to find evidence of epithermal alteration and mineralisation, but this met with no success. Consequently, no rock samples were taken for analysis. Under a uranium exploration joint venture that Tasman Resources made with Fission Energy, which was approved in mid-June 2007, a later JV entrant, Mega Hindmarsh, during July 2008 conducted subsets of its regional airborne geophysical surveys over EL 3739, comprising HyVista hyperspectral imagery (26 line km flown) and TEMPEST profiling (107 line km flown along 400 m spaced east-west lines, 120 m sensor flight elevation), to assist in the search for uranium mineralisation. However, the licence partners did not do any other work following the completion of these surveys.
