Exploration for possible economic buried stratabound Telfer - style gold mineralisation or placer gold deposits which could have formed in Adelaidean glacial sediments in the Nackara district, as well as for base metal and/or diamond mineralisation, has consisted of 1:50,000 scale geological mapping, vertical profile traverse logging (2 line km), rock chip sampling (34 samples) and regional stream sediment sampling (112 samples) to identify anomalous gold, and the collection and mineralogical study of 44 streambed heavy mineral trap samples plus 8 loam samples, seeking kimberlitic indicators. One visible grain of gold was found in a stream sediment heavy mineral sample collected from the south-western corner of the licence area, at a site overlying Appila Tillite bedrock, but follow-up stream sampling in the vicinity (7 samples) failed to find any gold anomalies. A solitary grain of chrome diopside was identified in the stream heavy mineral concentrates, but no follow-up investigation was recommended, as the geochemical assay results obtained from the loam samples were not encouraging.

Notes: This release to the public of the subject mineral exploration data, namely, company data which was acquired more than 5 years ago, is being done by DMITRE in accord with the provisions of Section 77D of the Mining Act 1971 and Regulation 88 of the Mining Regulations 2011.  See also the related EL 1250 first partial relinquishment report, held separately in Env 6411.  Utah Development Co. (Utah) was taken over by BHP Minerals Ltd early in April 1984.
