An area of the central Gawler Ranges located immediately west of Lake Gairdner has been explored primarily for possible sandstone-hosted uranium mineralisation that may have formed with reduced Tertiary sediments that unconformably overlie the basement, as well as for older, primary volcanic-hosted vein style uranium deposits that may exist within the Mesoproterozoic Yardea Dacite. During November 2007 Quasar acquired a regional helicopter-assisted gravity survey of 993 stations read on a 1 km x 1 km grid, accompanied by GPS measurements of surface elevation. Interpretation of the new gravity data and of shuttle radar topology mission (SRTM) data allowed the mapping of palaeodrainage features that appear to slope to the east across the licence area, besides identifying some discrete gravity anomalies that may indicate basement mineral potential. No further work took place on the subject licence during the following four years, and a decision to surrender tenure was made on 10/1/2012.
