Portions of the subject licence located at the northern end of the Peake and Denison Ranges have been relinquished owing to their perceived lower exploration potential. All of the reported work that was done within these licence portions pertains to the tenure period of EL 3226. An objective of Red Metal's exploration programme has been to determine the potential for stratabound uranium deposits to exist within the Jurassic Algebuckina Sandstone and overlying Cretaceous Cadna-owie Formation sediments lying marginal to the Peake and Denison Inliers. The types of deposits sought include sandstone-hosted roll-front deposits, and palaeodrainage controlled sandstone and conglomerate - hosted deposits. Historic drillholes put into the Algebuckina Sandstone have shown that it contains pyrite and organic matter in some areas. A review of the historic drilling records identified thick sequences of oxidised Algebuckina Sandstone flanking the radiogenic basement rocks. This setting when combined with a radiogenic provenance was interpreted to be conducive for forming uranium roll-front deposits. Another objective was to explore for possible buried iron oxide - associated copper-gold (IOCG) type mineralisation within the basement on the northern limit of the Peake and Denison Inliers, which comprise a series of outcropping north-west orientated fault-bounded wedges of Palaeoproterozoic metamorphic rocks (Peake Metamorphics) intruded by granitic and mafic rocks of Palaeoproterozoic and Mesoproterozoic ages, that lie immediately adjacent to the eastern margin of the Gawler Craton. To assist with IOCG target definition, a detailed gravity survey was acquired during December 2007 over the northern part of EL 3226 [571 stations read - a data subset is herewith released]. Shallow rotary mud drilling during 2006-2008 of 4 vertical holes for 212 m, to test the uranium potential of Mesozoic sandstones, intersected the target units, but downhole geophysical logs revealed no anomalous radioactivity within them. A fifth vertical rotary mud hole, AG08-51, was completed to TD 25.5 m as a precollar for planned future diamond drilling into a basement gravity anomaly.
