An area located approximately 50 km west of Port Augusta has been explored for economic epithermal gold and silver mineralisation following the discovery of such mineralisation a short distance to the north on the licensee's adjoining EL 3307 / 4475. Reconnaissance field geological traverses, hoping to identify evidence of epithermal alteration and mineralisation, were conducted over parts of the EL where the boundary between the Gawler Range Volcanics lava flows and underlying quartzite bedrock is exposed, without success. Limited first pass soil calcrete geochemical sampling (171 samples collected on a 1 km x 400 m grid) was also conducted, but no significant results were obtained. However, elsewhere on Avoca Resources' acreage, large areas of significant gold-in-calcrete anomalism were identified, notably to the north on EL 2924. Following the change in ownership of EL 3102, Tasman Resources undertook limited rock chip sampling of outcrop and bedrock float in the north-western part of the licence, adjacent to its epithermal precious metal discovery newly made on EL 3307. Weak surficial gold, copper and silver anomalies were found. Subsequent repeat sampling of calcrete to check on Avoca Resources' poor results (<3 ppb Au) returned a maximum value of 14.5 ppb Au from a piece of float thought to have possibly originated from upslope within EL 3307. No strong trace metal anomalies were found from the calcrete sampling. During May 2006 Tasman Resources flew part of a detailed airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over the northern part of EL 3102 (for 752 line km along 50 m spaced north-south lines, with a 30 m sensor elevation). The resulting high resolution aeromagnetic data, together with data from the adjacent EL 3307, helped Tasman to resolve a number of local geological issues, such as the precise location and orientation of the Gairdner Dykes, and the location and trend of the southern edge of the Nonning Rhyodacite. However, the 1712 line km of magnetic data obtained in the other part of the airborne survey conducted over Tasman's adjacent EL 3307 did not help in resolving the location or orientation of the gold and silver - mineralised quartz veins there. The new airborne radiometric data was studied to target areas of potential interest for uranium, but no strong anomalies worthy of priority follow-up were identified.
