An area centred approximately 40 km east of Port Augusta was taken up to explore for possible fault-related epithermal/hydrothermal gold and copper mineralisation associated with inferred buried mafic intrusions, in a geological setting thought to be similar to that surrounding the historically worked Spring Creek copper occurrence near Wilmington. Initial work comprised an assessment of available geological and geophysical data, followed by the reprocessing of available magnetic data to generate images that highlighted magnetic anomalies having steep gradients. One strong such anomaly was identified 2.5 km east-northeast of Pinda, which could represent a prospective mafic intrusion. It was planned to acquire gravity data across this feature, preferably using newly commercialised airborne gravity survey technology to avoid environmental disturbance, in view of the large number of private properties existing within this area of interest. However, a high level of industry competition for the airborne gravity contractor's services meant that no survey booking could be made by the licensee over a period of 30 months. In consequence, it was decided to surrender the ground.
