Exploration for gold and copper mineralisation within an area located immediately south of Mount Bryan and 19 km north of Burra was aimed principally at finding deposits of copper oxide and carbonate ores similar to those mined historically at Burra and Kapunda, which could perhaps be amenable to solvent extraction - electrowinning metallurgical processing. In addition, the tenement was considered to be prospective for gold and copper mineralisation related to Cambro-Ordovician sediments and late-stage felsic and mafic intrusives, possibly occurring as porphyry style, skarn replacement, or structurally controlled orebodies. Because the Adelaidean and younger bedrock is concealed under a moderate thickness of Recent cover across most of the licence area, an initial reconnaissance phase of soil geochemical sampling using a handheld Niton XRF analytical tool was completed during 2008, with 1886 sites being analysed for 34 elements. This work created an approximate 2 km by 20 m grid of soil analyses covering the tenement, and highlighted two low order areas of interest to be considered for infill soil sampling and drilling. Anomalous sites were taken to be those that returned copper, lead or zinc results of >40 ppm or gold or silver results >0.03 ppm. However, no significant metal anomalies were detected, and it was noted that the general level of anomalism in copper does not compare to levels seen by Phoenix in its other tenements nearby with similar stratigraphy e.g. Princess Royal. Follow-up check surface sampling for conventional laboratory analysis (144 sieved soil samples and 1 rock chip sample) also failed to define any worthwhile exploration targets. A consultant's reprocessing and review of available regional geophysical data images did not identify any prospective geophysical anomalies on EL 4032. Consequently, it was decided on 22/12/2011 to surrender tenure.
