Portions of an exploration licence situated at the northern end of the Denison Range, on and south of the Neales River, have recently been relinquished due to their perceived diminished potential to contain buried IOCG style or other economic metallic mineralisation. The targeted basement rocks here lie at the northern end of the Peake and Denison Inliers, which comprise a series of outcropping north-west orientated fault-bounded wedges of Palaeoproterozoic metamorphic basement rocks (Peake Metamorphics), intruded by granitic and mafic rocks of Palaeoproterozoic and Mesoproterozoic ages emplaced immediately adjacent to the eastern margin of the Gawler Craton. There was also thought to be good prospectivity for strata-controlled uranium deposits within the Jurassic Algebuckina Sandstone and overlying Cretaceous Cadna-owie Formation, lying marginal to the Peake and Denison Inliers. The type of deposits sought include sandstone-hosted roll-front deposits and palaeodrainage controlled sandstone and conglomerate hosted deposits. No work has been carried out on the subject relinquished ground during Years 6-9 of tenure (as current EL 4307). However, work conducted on this ground by Red Metal under previous title of EL 3226 included: - acquisition of part of a detailed gravity survey during December 2007; and - shallow RC percussion drilling during April 2008 for testing the IOCG-U potential of a basement gravity anomaly (one vertical hole to TD 15 m, including a 2.5 m long diamond core tail).
