107 square km or ~20% of the former area of EL 4708 have been relinquished because of their perceived diminished prospectivity for possible buried unconformity-related uranium mineralisation that may have formed within arenaceous sediments of the Mesoproterozoic Pandurra Formation in the Cariewerloo Basin. This favourable host unit has potential for hybrid origin targets containing high-grade uranium to occur within it at several levels and in varying depositional environments such as (cf. MESAJ 058, Wilson et al., 2010): • associated with mafic dykes, • at the unconformity between Pandurra Formation and the overlying reduced Tapley Hill Formation, • at the unconformity between Pandurra Formation and the underlying Gawler Craton basement rocks or • perched within the Pandurra Formation over unconformity-associated mineralisation. The general licence area has been poorly explored previously, due principally to the thickness of the cover sediments. During the first licence year, aerial orthophotographs and remote-sensing spectral scan images were studied in order to determine the presence of anomalous surface-exposed areas of alteration. Three helicopter-borne VTEM survey profiles totalling ~70 flight line km were also acquired along east-west lines in July 2012. Later in that year, groundwater geochemical samples were collected during a field visit; one of the sampled bores is located within the relinquished area. The processed VTEM data disclosed one shallow, late time short wavelength conductive response, but it was considered most likely to be processing noise since it did not appear to be associated with a fault. The groundwater sample laboratory multi-element assaying returned no values of note.
