321 square km of the former area of EL 4938 has recently been relinquished due to a lack of encouraging results, and difficulty with land access onto certain private properties located therein due to some farmers’ resistance to mineral exploration. Exploration within the now relinquished portions of the licence area initially consisted of regional reconnaissance 1 km x1 km soil geochemical sampling carried out during 2008 (794 samples), coverage which was subsequently infill sampled in certain areas during 2009 down to 500 m x 500 m sample spacing, with a third round of sampling in 2010 performed over 250 m x 250 m grids on selected anomalies (93 samples). All soil samples collected were analysed for a wide range of elements using the partial leach technique. Also during August-September 2008, parts of a regional ground gravity survey were read over the relinquished ground at 1 km x1 km grid station spacing [the gravity data for 346 stations is herewith released by the JV to open file]. During September 2009, a 4 vertical hole aircore drilling programme was performed by Southern Uranium at the “Paracombe” prospect soil uranium geochemical anomaly, for a total penetration of 281 m. The drill traverse addressed a single point anomalous soil sample; the surrounding soil samples had only displayed low level anomalism. The downhole assay results for the Paracombe holes were disappointing, as the highest value recorded was only 14.5 ppm U. However, only hole PCAC001 sampled hard bedrock; the other 3 holes did not reach the transported/weathered basement interface, so at present the JV partners consider that this potential IOCGU target has not been thoroughly tested. No further field work was performed by Investigator Resources on the now relinquished ground after 2010, due to operating company priorities being directed to other tenements and prospects.
