The total area of a multi-part tenement, EL 4882 centred on Kingoonya township, has recently been significantly reduced via voluntary relinquishment made by licensee Hiltaba Gold. The relinquishment comprises parts of Blocks A and E, and the whole of Blocks B, C and D. The subject licence lies in the central Gawler Craton of South Australia. Neoarchean to earliest Palaeoproterozoic basement locally includes the Mulgathing Complex, Glenloth Granite and Harris Greenstone Belt. Within the relinquished licence portions, basement consists of the ~1590Ma Gawler Range Volcanics (GRV; the coeval Hiltaba Granite Suite intrudes basement) and overlying Pandurra Formation red beds of the Mesoproterozoic Carriewerloo Basin, plus older Mulgathing Complex metasediments, and some komatiite and ultrabasic rocks. The Central Gawler Gold Province is a region in the central Gawler Craton in which there is a close spatial association between Hiltaba Suite plutons, coeval structure and gold-dominant mineralisation. The komatiite rocks have potential for Ni-Cu-PGE sulphide mineralising systems. AngloGold Ashanti were targeting Hiltaba age intrusive bodies within Archaean and Palaeoproterozoic country rocks, that might host weakly metal mineralised “smoke” marginal to a major Au±Cu deposit concealed beneath the GRV, in the southern part of the eastern block of the licence. The exploration focus for UraniumSA was possible palaeochannel "roll-front" style sedimentary uranium occurrences that may have formed within overlying Eocene and Miocene sediments in the west. The Kingoonya Palaeochannel System was interpreted to extend through three of the western blocks of the tenement, as a postulated headwater system draining south into Lake Gairdner. During May 2007, UraniumSA acquired a minor, 14 line subset of a 2383.3 line km airborne EM (RepTEM) survey over the now relinquished ground, flying either north-south or east-west orientated lines at 2 km spacing across the western four Areas A-D. This was the only work completed on the now relinquished ground by any of the three licence operators during the subject tenure period.
