A small licence area composed of three separate sub-blocks, which is centred approximately 80 km south-west of Whyalla, has been explored for possible economic buried base metal and/or gold and/or uranium mineralisation that may have formed in Archaean to Palaeoprotrozoic basement rocks in this part of the prospective Moonta - Challenger crustal lineament corridor. To investigate the surface trace element geochemistry of the licence area, Investigator Resources performed reconnaissance soil sampling during October 2010, when 180 samples were collected for assaying over either 1 km x 1 km or 500 m x 1 km grids. Partial leach analysis for a broad suite of indicator elements did not return many results of note, except for a 59.2 ppb Au anomaly in the south of the eastern sub-block, from within the Secret Rocks Nature Reserve. This first-pass geochemical highlight was followed up with infill soil sampling done in October 2012, when 75 samples were collected and similarly assayed. The gold values returned then were of much lower tenor (maximum 41 ppb Au), and did not extend the target anomaly appreciably in any particular direction. Investigator Resources subsequently decided not to attempt to drill the gold anomaly, mainly because of political issues surrounding ongoing environmental disturbance sensitivities voiced by the nature reserve leaseholder. No other work was done on the subject licence, and it was surrendered in early May 2014.
