A small, north-western part of a licence located immediately south of Olary township has recently been relinquished due to it having perceived minimal iron ore potential. The only work undertaken on the relinquished ground was the acquisition along its southern edge of a very minor part of an airborne magnetic/radiometric survey conducted by UTS Geophysics for Helix Resources during October-November 2008, although the entire, 10,465 line km survey covered most of EL 4022 and Helix' adjoining EL 3956, along 100 m spaced flight lines with a mean sensor elevation above the surface of 40 m. The resulting data was subjected to 2D geophysical modelling to ascertain whether any anomalies existed which would warrant more sophisticated inversion modelling. No anomalies of interest were discerned on the now relinquished licence portion.

Notes: Includes, as an appendix: - Mackay, D. and Peters, W.S., July 2007. Airborne magnetic/radiometric/DEM survey raw data processing: image atlas, and description of processing methods used (Southern Geoscience Consultants' report for Helix Resources). 71 pages, figures. Bonython Metals Group (BMG) farmed in to ELs 4022 and 3596 on 26/2/2010, to earn a majority interest from licensee Helix Resources conferring iron ore rights only. However, the agreement was terminated by Helix on 28/1/2011 due to BMG's non-performance of its obligations. Helix transferred 100% ownership of both of its project ELs to a subsidiary company, Olary Magnetite Pty Ltd, with effect from 2/8/2011. Lodestone Equities Ltd (part of the Toll Group) purchased the Braemar Iron Project licences from Olary Magnetite on 13/2/2013, completing the deal for a total of $4.75 million in cash plus a carried 1% FOB royalty. Since then the project has been managed by Lodestone's operating arm Braemar Iron Pty Ltd.
