A small area centred ~140 km north-northwest of Olary is being explored for possible buried Tertiary palaeochannel or sheet sandstone-hosted, roll-front style sedimentary uranium mineralisation, as well as for possible Mesoproterozoic basement-hosted IOCG mineralisation. During the first licence year, work consisted of: - a compilation and review of open-file geophysical data and reports, by Southern Geoscience Consultants of Perth, who reprocessed the latest airborne survey data to generate a set of gravity, magnetic, radiometric and Landsat images covering the tenement area. From these images some surface uranium radiometric anomalies were identified; - 17 soil, 5 rock chip and 2 groundwater geochemical samples were collected in May 2007 over a radiometric anomaly located in the south-east of the tenement, and were assayed to check for calcrete-hosted uranium, returning a maximum value of 119 ppm U from a soil sample; - elevated surface radioactivity readings which had been obtained by scintillometer at this anomaly, plus later receiving the above soil uranium value, necessitated making a follow-up check visit to the site in November 2007 and doing some auger bottomhole sampling to 1.2 m depth of shallow subsurface regolith material (10 holes for 10 m). Little outcropping calcrete was identified, just a limited thickness (<50 cm) crust of calcareous lacustrine sediment material that was not geochemically anomalous (maximum sample assay result 21.3 ppm U). The lack of useful gravity data for the tenement area was highlighted as something to rectify if searching for IOCG mineralisation was to remain an exploration aim.
