Three sub-blocks with a combined area of 48 square km have recently been relinquished from EL 3402, which is located approximately 65 km east of Oodnadatta. The licence was taken up in mid-2005 to explore the basement rocks in a section of the G2 Lineament tectonic corridor for possible buried Olympic Dam style IOCG mineralisation, because a prominent regional gravity anomaly called the Toby anomaly exists there, which had formerly never been drill tested. Since that time, the current licensees have drilled two exploratory holes into the western lobe of this gravity high, without success. The only field work which was undertaken on the relinquished areas was ground geophysical surveying. During August-September 2007, Solo Geophysics was contracted to carry out a gravity survey covering the entire licence area, of 414 stations read at 1 km x 500 m grid spacing, and in May 2010, geophysical consultant Montana GIS Pty Ltd undertook modelling of all the available gravity data and prepared an interpretation report that included proposed drillhole locations. None of these locations lie within the three now relinquished portions of ground. The gravity survey logistics report, and a subset of the full gravity raw data, are herewith released to open file. The 3D geophysical inversion model of the Toby anomaly potential field data shows that for its eastern lobe, an associated magnetic anomaly appears to be strongly correlated spatially, so it is expected that future drilling of the gravity anomaly here should encounter a magnetite-rich body. Two further drillholes have been programmed for this purpose.
