A 47.4 square km area, representing about 37% of EL 4358, has been relinquished due to the inferred significant cover there of Quaternary alluvial and aeolian overburden. No field work was conducted on this area as part of a regional search for possible economic Beltana-style zinc silicate hydrothermal replacement mineralisation hosted by brecciated Cambrian or Neoproterozoic bedrock carbonates. It was thought that utilising conventional exploration methods such as wide-spaced reconnaissance RC drilling would not be effective there, where the cover is estimated to be at least 200 m thick, and where no previous drillhole information exists. No surface geochemical data is available, and inspection of Aster satellite multispectral data purchased late in 2011 did not reveal any bedrock traits.
