Possible stratiform / hydrothermal syngenetic base metals deposited on the flanks of the Pernatty Culmination in the vicinity of fault lineations were targeted in an ongoing regional drilling programme (in part comprising 7 vertical rotary percussion / diamond drillholes put down within SML 499, for a total penetration of 2737 feet) that addresses the receptive Adelaidean metasedimentary sequence overlying the top of Pandurra Formation Late Mesoproterozoic unconformity. Only low concentrations of disseminated and very fine grained sulphide minerals were found, confined to a tectonically brecciated dolomitic shale that is thought to be occupying a narrow graben, perhaps in depositional continuity with the host rocks to similar mineralisation found earlier by Noranda in the Winnie Pinnie area. Hole LD3 situated south of Lake Blyth contained the most anomalous zinc values, up to 1% Zn over an 8 foot thick interval intersected at around 600 feet depth. A percussion cuttings sample recovered from 260 feet depth in hole LD1, at the base of the Whyalla Sandstone, returned 0.46% Cu from a 4'6" thick interval, but no chalcopyrite could be observed in this sample, and thus the mineralisation is inferred to be submicroscopic.
