An area centred ~40 km west of Kingoonya has continued to be explored for possible economic buried epithermal/hydrothermal gold and base metals by the Deep Well/Abbey Feale Mining group. Due to financial constraints, the only work undertaken during the current period of tenure has been further surface calcrete geochemical sampling and a magnetic gradiometer survey. During 2008, 300 hand-dug calcrete samples were collected in an area located to the west of the Earea Dam gold mining lease, to follow up some >5 ppb Au anomalism noted in earlier calcrete sample assay results, but no assay results of significance were returned. In 2009, another 30 infill calcrete samples were collected at the Earea Dam North gold anomaly, again failing to provide any encouragement to proceed to bedrock RC drilling. In 2011, two consultants were engaged to perform a desktop study of data concerning the primary tin mineral potential of felsic basement rocks in the area to the east of South Lake. Limited heavy mineral sampling of contemporary stream sediments was also done in this area, to gauge whether in past times any economic amounts of detrital minerals could perhaps have formed buried placer deposits in inferred Cainozoic palaeochannels lying underneath present-day salt lakes. A detailed ground magnetic gradiometer survey was run for the client during 2012, in an attempt to map these host palaeochannels via the magnetite and maghemite which they ought to contain, but the data gathered was inconclusive. Attempts were made over several years to farm-out or to sell the subject licence, but with no interest being attracted, it was eventually decided to surrender tenure.
