A large area centred ~25 km south-west of Marree has been explored for possible buried economic stratiform / stratabound base metals in the basal Adelaidean Callanna Group and overlying Neoproterozoic metasediments, including possible sedimentary uranium mineralisation near the basal Adelaidean unconformity, as well as for inferred primary copper-gold deposits of IOCG affinity in the underlying older Proterozoic basement. The widespread presence of disruptive diapiric structures and large fault and fold-related breccia zones, and of multiple small scale oxidised copper occurrences therein, was regarded as a strong indication of underlying hypogene mineralisation potential. During the initial licence year, no field work was done, but the licensees engaged consultants Ric Horn of Hornet Resource Assessment Services Pty Ltd and Ian Youles of Inca Resources Pty Ltd to perform a data review and prospectivity analysis, and Jim Allender personally undertook the imaging and preliminary interpretation of existing regional geophysical data. During licence Year 2, in September 2007, new joint venture partner and private company Salisbury Resources Limited funded the acquisition of ground gravity survey data by Solo Geophysics. A total of 300 stations were read mainly at 500 m intervals along station tracks, and at 1 km intervals along fencelines. The data were levelled, processed and images produced by Allender Exploration. During licence Year 3, further processing and imaging of all of the available gravity data plus reprocessing of aeromagnetic data was undertaken by consultant Dave McInnes of Montana GIS. He produced a set of residual Bouguer gravity anomaly images based on variable scale gridding algorithms that also removed the contributions of dense sources lying at >2 km depth. A sale and purchase agreement was signed in July 2009 whereby the two grant licensees transferred their ownership of EL 3618 to Outlier No 1 Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Salisbury Resources Limited, who took over exploration management and in August decided to partially relinquish ~35% of the licence area, namely ground on the periphery of the Ranges which it was thought lacked prospectivity for stratiform copper and vein gold within the Neoproterozoic sequence. Salisbury did not undertake any field work within the prior 2008-2009 Year 3 period due to the prolonged negotiations it had to make with the tenement holders for the sale and purchase of the tenement. The company had intended to include the subject tenement in an IPO and float of its shares, but ongoing unfavourable market conditions delayed it making a listing on the ASX. During licence Year 4, the following activities occurred: - further processing of geophysical data and the selection of target areas for further detailed gravity survey work and follow up ground investigations; - examination of all the past geochemical data from surveys carried out by previous explorers; - examination and compilation of previous drillhole data, with particular emphasis on that originating from the Boorloo and Euramina copper mines. A brief field visit was made to the Boorloo mine; and - the conduct of preliminary discussions with the Native Title claimant’s legal representatives on Native Title and Aboriginal heritage matters. No further work ensued during Years 5, 6 and 7. A search for a joint venture partner to assist in drilling identified targets proved fruitless, so tenure was eventually allowed to lapse in August 2013.
