A small area centred ~50 km west of Port Augusta was taken up to explore for possible buried epigenetic and structurally controlled gold mineralisation in Archaean and Proterozoic basement rocks. The target was related to a 3.5 km long, >3 ppb Au soil calcrete gold anomaly that Avoca Resources had reported in 2003 from its sampling done on a 1 km x 400 m grid. A secondary objective was possible buried IOCG mineralisation in deeper basement settings. During the first licence year, Doray's conduct of a review of existing open file past exploration data, plus reconnaissance fieldwork and infill surface geochemical sampling (21 samples) done in May 2014, showed that the targeted historic calcrete anomalism is probably merely a function of disparate comparison against contrasting background Au levels stemming from different regolith environments. An interpretation of the regional magnetic and gravity survey data implied that there is low structural and lithological prospectivity, and indicated that most of the older basement in the tenement area is covered by Gawler Range Volcanics. Because of these perceived adverse factors, it was decided to fully surrender tenure.
