A 1.4 km wide strip running along the whole northern side of the southern of two sub-blocks remaining for the subject EL 4882, equal in area to 23.5 square km, has been relinquished at the renewal of this licence for a ninth year. The only exploration work undertaken within the small portion of dropped ground has been the interpretation of subsets of larger airborne magnetic/radiometric and semi-regional gravity surveys that were acquired by farminee AngloGold Ashanti Australia Limited (AGA) during 2011. AGA were targeting Hiltaba age altered lithologies within Archaean and Palaeoproterozoic basement rocks that the company hoped could represent IOCG mineralising system “smoke” formed marginal to a major Au±Cu deposit concealed beneath the Gawler Range Volcanics sequence present in the southern part of the southern sub-block of the subject licence. Their focus was on a broad, diffuse magnetic “shellback” anomaly which was interpreted to be similar to those which characterise the Carrapateena, Olympic Dam and Osborne IOCG deposits. AGA concluded that their airborne magnetic and ground gravity surveys had defined more detailed anomalies within the targeted broad “shell-back” magnetic feature, which were interpreted to relate mainly to 827 Ma, NNW-trending Gairdner Suite mafic dykes which are not related to any known mineralisation. They thought that performing further interpretation of the geophysical datasets, possibly with follow-up detailed geophysical surveying of selected targets, would be prudent to do before any drilling targets could be finalised. AGA thereafter did no further field work for either of EL 3655 or EL 4573, which together had constituted its Gairdner JV Project. The gravity survey operations report, and gravity data from 147 of 386 stations read at 400 m x 400 m spacing during April 2011, are appended to this Envelope.
