An area located ~100 km south-east of Coober Pedy and ~29 km north-northeast of the Prominent Hill mine was taken up to explore for copper-uranium-gold-silver-rare earth element (Cu-Au-U-REE+/-Ag) mineralisation of the style typified at Olympic Dam and Prominent Hill. During the initial year of tenure, existing geophysical, geochemical and geological data were compiled and reviewed, and IOCG targeting performed by past explorers was studied with the aid of 1:250,000 scale magnetic and gravity images produced by Southern Geoscience Consultants. It was recommended that infill gravity data be acquired by Straits before the commencement of any inversion modelling of the gravity and magnetic datasets for fresh target generation. At the end of the year the licence was fully surrendered, acting upon advice received from DMITRE, because of the impending Commonwealth Government embargo on the conduct of mineral exploration anywhere within the Woomera Prohibited Area pending resolution of the format of new, non-Department of Defence work access arrangements.
