During initial exploration of the Florieton area, located approximately 40 km south-east of Burra, the compilation and reprocessing of available gravity and magnetic data were used to interpret the bedrock geology hidden under a widespread 150-200 m thickness of cover, and to define buried intrusive bodies variously constituting targets prospective for porphyry-style Cu-Au-Mo, for magmatic mafic/ultramafic hosted Ni-Cu-PGE, or for skarn type Au ± base metals mineralisation. Seventeen singular or coincident magnetic and/or gravity targets were identified, of which three are probably porphyries, while the remainder are either skarns or mafic bodies. Two of these targets were classed by Copper Range as high priority, seven as medium priority and eight as low priority. The high and medium priority targets over both the subject Florieton EL and Copper Range's adjoining Mount Mary EL to the south were reviewed in detail. Detailed gravity data, where available, and previous exploration data were scrutinised to determine whether they remained viable after the previous work done there. Some of the adjudged still viable targets have now had drill sites chosen, whilst others require additional ground geophysical surveying to refine optimum drill site locations. No field work was undertaken during the second licence year, with Copper Range instead engaged in seeking a joint venture partner to help it fund proposed RC drilling at targets FL_MG_04 and FL_M_04. [Work performed on the tenement during licence Years 3 through 7 is described elsewhere in Phoenix Copper's Burra Project ELs' joint annual reports, held separately in Env 12045]. An inability to attract sufficient funds for drilling the perceived most prospective targets has lately resulted in a decision being reached by PNX Metals Limited to surrender the licence.
