Exploration Licence 2752 Yaninee on the northern Eyre Peninsula of South Australia was acquired by Adelaide Resources Limited to secure vacant ground adjacent to EL 2845 Minnipa (previously EL 2188) where exploration by Adelaide Resources early in 2000 had discovered potentially economic gold mineralisation at the Barns prospect. The subject licence is part of a group of nine tenements mostly 100% owned by Adelaide Exploration Limited, covering 6480 square km of the northern Eyre Peninsula, which together form the Eyre Peninsula Project. No work was done on EL 2752 during its first year, while the licensee was negotiating a joint venture with two potentially interested parties. MIM Exploration later farmed into the licence in March 2002 via the Yaninee Joint Venture Agreement, and conducted geophysical exploration of semi-coincident regional magnetic and gravity anomalies located in the south-eastern part of the tenement, undertaking detailed ground magnetic and gravity surveys and a MIMDAS IP/MT survey. During July 2002, MIM read a gravity survey of 205 stations on an 800 m x 800 m regular grid at the target Yaninee B prospect. The results delineated a 4-5 mGal gravity high in the centre of the survey area, confirming the existence of the regional gravity anomaly. At this time also a 40 line km ground magnetic survey was acquired at the prospect along east-west lines 200 m apart, to better define a >1000 nT magnetic high. The survey gave increased resolution of the magnetic anomaly and revealed its previously hidden complexity. Four lines of MIMDAS dipole-dipole IP survey were subsequently acquired during December 2002 to try to outline the source of the potential field anomalies.
