An area centred ~25km south-east of Elliston on south-western Eyre Peninsula and which abuts the coast of the Great Australian Bight has been explored for possible buried economic occurrences of Archaean igneous intrusive body - related nickel sulphide mineralisation that could be associated with the Polda Basin faulted margin, and also for volcanogenic metasediment breccia hosted zinc mineralisation similar to that discovered by Lynch Mining at its Malache prospect on EL 3301. No outcrop occurs in the area, and previous limited exploration indicates that basement generally lies at depths of between 20 and 100 m. During the first year, the licensee compiled and reviewed available company and Government data resulting from previous exploration in the area. It was noted that only limited drilling of geophysical targets lying within covered basement had been completed to date. No work was done on the licence over the succeeding seven years, before tenure was dropped. Planned acquisition of ground magnetic surveys and soil calcrete geochemical sampling above an inferred shallowly buried basement ridge did not eventuate. Lynch Mining's lengthy examination of available and evolving regional information led to it downgrading the area's perceived prospectivity.
