Three scout holes totalling 1245 feet were rotary drilled in Lobe B of the Leigh Creek Coalfield to test for any subsurface extension to a previously identified radioactively anomalous surface area. Although the Late Triassic clastic sediments encountered were regarded as favourable in lithology and structure, they did not give sufficiently high gamma ray log kicks or uranium assay values to indicate possible economic sedimentary uranium mineralisation. Therefore it was decided by CRA that no further work was warranted.
